I have training in and draw upon the following therapeutic models:

  • Eye Movement De-sensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR): EMDR is most commonly known as a treatment for PTSD. Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR does not require you to talk about every detail of the distressing event, instead it focuses on changing how the memory is held in your nervous system.

  • Trauma-Informed Stabilisation Therapy (TIST, Dr Janina Fisher): An educational, mindfulness and parts-based model that works with the consequences of trauma to restore safety and self-leadership.

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): A type of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy that promotes acceptance of difficult internal experiences (psychological flexibility) and values-based living over chasing happiness per se.

  • Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) skills: DBT is a type of Cognitive Behavioural therapy. DBT skills teach practical life-skills including emotion regulation, mindfulness, relationship skills and coping with distress.

  • The Body Keeps the Score: trauma, attachment and neuroscience (Dr Bessel Van Der Kolk): This is an integrative approach to working with trauma/PTSD and promotes somatic or body based and neurobiological approaches.
